What is a Developmental Disability?
A developmental disability is attributable to mental or physical impairment or a combination of both. These disabilities include mental retardation, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, autism, or other neurologically handicapping conditions found to be closely related to mental retardation or to require treatment similar to that required for individuals with mental retardation. The disability originates before the age of 22 and is expected to continue indefinitely, and it results in significant limitation of three or more of the following types of activities:
