Early Syphilis (Primary, Secondary, & Early Latent)

Healthy People Year 2010 Objective 25-3:
Eliminate sustained domestic transmission of primary and secondary syphilis.
Target: 0.2 cases per 100,000 population.
Baseline: 3.2 cases of primary and secondary syphilis per 100,000 population occurred in 1997.

Target setting method: Better than the best and consistent with the National Plan to Eliminate Syphilis from the United States, CDC, 1999.
Data source: STD Surveillance System, CDC, NCHSTP.
