RMP - Tesoro Golden Eagle RefineryMartinez, CAFomerly known as the Ultramar Golden Eagle Refinery, Tosco Avon Refinery, Phillips Avon Refinery. Tesoro Petroleum Company is an independent oil refiner and marketer of petroleum products in the United States. Tesoro purchased the Golden Eagle Refinery in May 2002. The Golden Eagle Refinery processes approximately 160,000 barrels (1 barrel = 42 gallons) of crude oil per day into transportation fuels. The principal fuels produced are gasoline and diesel. The refinery produces Propane and Butane for commercial purposes. In addition, the refinery produces anhydrous Ammonia and elemental Sulfur for the agricultural market, as well as petroleum coke used for fuel cogeneration plants in East Contra Costa County and overseas. The refinery also supplies Monsanto with Oleum for their processes and Carbon Dioxide to Air Liquide for the manufacture of dry ice.
