You'll Need a Number

Beginning July 1, 2003 when you call Central Appointments for one of our Health Centers, you will need a health coverage number to make an appointment.

If you don't have a number, financial counselors will help you over the phone and then switch you back to make an appointment. Read more about what you'll hear when you call.

Financial counselors can help you NOW to get financial coverage, including Basic Health Care.

After July 1, 2003, if you don't have an insurance coverage number, you will have to talk with a financial counselor before you can make an appointment.

Insurance coverage for our Health Centers includes:
  • Enrollment in the Contra Costa Health Plan (CCHP) or
  • Medi-Cal or Medicare coverage or
  • Medi-Cal or Medicare coverage and if in managed care, enrolled in CCHP or
  • Basic Health Care program (BHC). BHC is for people who live in Contra Costa County and whose income does not exceed 300% of the federal poverty level. Eligibility includes assessing income and assets, as well as confirming that the applicant is not eligible for Medi-Cal, Health Families, or other coverage.
  • Have other Health Insurance coverage or
  • Can pay for the visit before your appointment.
Here's what you can do now to get health insurance coverage:
  • Talk to a Financial Counselor to see if you are eligible for MediCal, Basic Health Care (BHC) or other insurance. We will help you apply. Call 1-800-771-4270 to begin.
  • When you apply for insurance, complete all of the requirements. If you do not, you will never know if you are eligible for coverage to pay for your medical care.
