The Position

The Contra Costa County Health Services Department is recruiting qualified individuals to fill one (1) Part-Time Ultrasonographer position. The person selected for this position will work at the Contra Costa Regional Medical Center in Martinez and has responsibility for performing 2-D and M-Mode echocardiograms with Doppler flow studies and Doppler color flow velocity mapping.

Duties associated with this position include: positioning and transferring patients and providing for patient safety; selecting equipment for use in cardiac sonography; adjusting equipment controls; and preparing records of functional, anatomical and pathological data.

The employment list established by this recruitment will remain in effect for six months.

Minimum Qualifications

Certificate: Possession of a valid certificate as a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) issued by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers.

Substitution for Certificate: One year of full-time (or the equivalent of full-time) experience conducting cardiac ultrasound examinations in an acute care hospital and proof of eligibility for Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers examination may be substituted for the required certificate. Certification as a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer must be obtained within the first year of employment.

Other Requirements

Prior to employment, a background investigation will be conducted. Fingerprints will be taken.

2. Application Evaluation: All accepted applicants will have their relevant education, training and work experience as presented on and with the application evaluated and scored. A minimum passing score of 70 points will be awarded for meeting all minimum qualifications. Additional points will be awarded for additional job-related qualifications. Applicants will be ranked on the eligible list according to the score assigned.

The Human Resources Department may change the examination steps noted above in accordance with Personnel Management Regulations and accepted selection practices.
