Contra Costa Regional Medical Center

Contra Costa Regional Medical Center

"A bright spot among East Bay hospitals: Contra Costa Regional Medical Center, the county-owned hospital in Martinez, was constructed in the 1990s and has the top seismic ranking. It needs no retrofit work and should be able to continue providing services after a major tremblor."

Contra Costa Regional Medical Center is a full service county hospital and offers a complete array of patient-centered health care services delivered in a beautiful facility.

With the opening of the Contra Costa Regional Medical Center the people of Contra Costa gained a valuable new community resource: a modern state-of-the-art public hospital dedicated to serving the health care needs of all county residents.

For more than a century, Contra Costa's public hospital has been providing quality health care services to the entire community. Our patients know they're receiving excellent medical care. But more than just quality medical care, our patients also receive compassionate care. That's because it's been our philosophy from the beginning to respect the dignity of the patient and extend compassionate and personalized care to all.

Are our patients comfortable? Are we satisfying their needs - both physically and emotionally? Are they well-prepared with what they'll need once they leave our hospital? Will they know how to gain access to the rest of our comprehensive health care system in the future? Simply put, is there anything else we can do for our patients?

Preserving our tradition of service and excellence is a challenge we are honored to accept - and a promise we are determined to keep.

Fulfilling our mission

In the immortal words of the late Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr., we are reminded that life's most urgent question is: What are you doing for others? Public hospitals like Contra Costa Regional play a critical role in providing health care, and we are proud of our role as the health care safety-net for vulnerable populations. We care about the community we serve.

Contra Costa's state-of-the-art medical center is the culmination of nearly two decades of intensive debate, dozens of evaluative studies and extensive consultation related to the future of the county's public hospital. Ultimately, it was determined that our unique role as an essential community provider could not be replaced by any other single hospital-or combinations of hospitals-in the region. The new facility is a symbol of the tireless efforts and unwavering support of countless individuals who, working together, helped transform a dream into a reality.

Building on Excellence

Every detail of our 164-bed hospital was designed with the needs of our patients foremost in mind. Quality. Service. Safety. Comfort. These were the principles that guided us through each step of our planning process. We are now able to provide inpatient and ancillary services in a manner that is more comfortable for our patients and more efficient for our providers.

Not only is the facility equipped with the most-up-to-date seismic-safety features and high-tech medical apparatus, it also includes a sophisticated and energy-efficient climate control system designed to maximize the comfort of patients and staff. We've also enhanced our computer information network for easier registration and improved availability of patient medical histories to health care professionals for clinical decisions. In short, we've done just about everything we can think of to serve our patients better.
