Community meeting to discuss Bay Point Drinking Water Problems

For Release April 30, 2007
Contact: Michael Kent, 925-313-6587
Spanish-language media: Wendy Cervantes, 925-752-6995

What

The public is invited to a community meeting to discuss drinking water quality issues in Bay Point. Contra Costa Health Services is holding the meeting at a restaurant and the first 75 people will receive free food.

When

6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 2.

Where

La Finca Restaurant, 706 Port Chicago Highway, Bay Point.

Why

Though Bay Point residents pay more for their drinking water than any other large community in East Contra Costa County, Bay Point doesn't receive fluoridated drinking water. Bay Point drinking water also has the highest level of disinfectant by-products in the service area, and long-term exposure to these contaminants can potentially cause cancer.

For more information, call Wendy Cervantes at 925-752-6995.
