Project Homeless Connect 2October 16, 2007Project Homeless Connect 2 was another huge success. About 400 people who are homeless had access to 80 different services during the one-day event in October at the Willow Pass Center in Concord. Food, medical, dental and mental health care, haircuts, information on housing opportunities and employment were among the services offered. Fifteen people were placed immediately into a shelter and 71 people received identification cards from the DMV. Animal Services also provided a place for visitors to keep their cats and dogs while they received services and even provided pet vaccines. Staff from our Public Health, Mental Health, AODS, CCHP, and CCRMC/HC divisions were among the 168 volunteers who made the event possible, along with representatives from the Employment and Human Services Department and County Administrator's Office. The Concord event was sponsored by CCHS, the Greater Richmond Interfaith Program and the City of Concord. For more info about Project Homeless Connect, call our Homeless Program at 925-313-6124.
