Contra Costa Immunization RegistryContra Costa is part of the Bay Area Regional Immunization Registry, one of ten regional registries in the California Immunization Registry. The registry stores immunization records that can be retrieved, reviewed and updated for the purpose of providing immunization services and immunization-related assessment. What is the goal of the Immunization Registry? The goal of the registry, along with other elements of our overall immunization strategy, is to immunize all of Contra Costa's children on time and completely. Who is in the Immunization Registry?Currently, the registry covers about 40% of children under age six who live in Contra Costa County, the majority of whom are insured by Medi-Cal. The registry also includes immunization records for children over six seen by any of the participating providers as well as for adults seen at the County Health Clinics and Public Health Immunization Clinics. What is the History of the Registry in Contra Costa?Developed in 1995, the original Contra Costa Automated Immunization Registry (CCAIR) first included immunization information only for county providers. The registry was expanded to include community clinics and private providers. Then in 2008, Contra Costa joined the Bay Area Regional Immunization Registry. Now immunization records can be accessed from across the twelve participating counties. Ultimately, the goal is to integrate existing regional registries into a statewide system.
