Childhood Matters Radio Show - March 2008

March 23, 2008

Dear Friends,

When children suffer from asthma, they often miss out on many days of school and time playing with their friends. Luckily, there are ways to control asthma with medication and changes in environment. This Sunday on Childhood Matters, Nurse Rona and guests will offer tips for coping with asthma.

Parents of preteens - join Nuestros Niños in Spanish this Sunday. Doctora Marisol and guests will tackle the mental health of our preteens: emotions, confusions, worries, and depression. For more details, please see the column to the right.

Do you know someone who would benefit from listening to either Childhood Matters or Nuestros Niños? Print a schedule of this month's show topics.

Asthma and Children: Symptoms, Treatment and Prevention

Asthma affects over six million children in the United States, and the majority develop symptoms before the age of five. What factors contribute to the onset of asthma, and what can parents and teachers do to respond to and reduce asthmatic symptoms? Join Rona and guests, Michael Cabana, MD, MPH, Director of the Division of General Pediatrics at the University of California, San Francisco, and Rose Qabazard, RN, Asthma Nurse Specialist for the Oakland Unified School District, as they answer your questions about asthma.

Are you wondering how to look for asthma symptoms? Find out this Sunday - call 1-877-372-KIDS.
