News ReleaseConcord Health Fair Targets Monument Corridor Residents

September 16, 2005 CONTACT: Leslye Asera, Community Relations Manager 925-671-3272 lasera@ci.concord.ca.us Concord - (September 16, 2005) The fifth annual Monument Community Health Fair takes place Saturday, October 8 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Meadow Homes Park, Detroit Avenue and Sunshine Drive in Concord. This community-based, multi-agency event will provide free health screenings and information about health services to residents of the Monument corridor, many of whom do not have access to health care. Free health screenings will be provided for glucose, cholesterol, cardiology, asthma, vision, dental, blood pressure, prostate cancer, and bone density for seniors. The fair will accommodate both English and Spanish-speaking residents. Children's activities will be provided. Kaiser Permanente will host a Viva Bien Variety Show featuring its award-winning Educational Theater Program, healthy cooking demonstrations and an audience participation quiz show with prizes. The event is presented by the Monument Community Partnership and sponsored by the city of Concord, Contra Costa County Health Services, John Muir/Mt. Diablo Health System, Kaiser Permanente, La Clinica Monument, American Cancer Society, STAND! Against Domestic Violence, Firedoll Foundation, and the California-Mexico Health Initiative.
