African American Conductor Workshops

Based on the "Cooking and Eating for Radiant Health" pilot curriculum, a 3-series pilot workshop was implemented in Spring 2009. Coordinated and led by 2 local African American Health Conductors, the workshop aimed at rediscovering the long and rich cooking traditions of the African American culture. The discussion session included why fruits and vegetables are important for our health, how to read food labels, and how to eat healthy on a budget. In addition, food demonstrations, and a 20-minute exercise break was built into the workshop to assist with reducing stress management and to highlight the importance of daily physical activity.
