Nutrition, Exercise, and Wellness (NEW) Kids ProgramThe NEW (Nutrition, Exercise, and Wellness) Kids Program, through partnership with the Los Medanos Community Healthcare District and Kaiser Permanente, aims to reduce the childhood obesity epidemic by offering a FREE family-based pediatric weight management program for youth 6 to 12 years old and their families. Based upon the Kids in Dynamic Shape (KP Kids) Kids curriculum, the 6-week sessions provide families with the knowledge and skills to live a healthy lifestyle. Each session includes information about weight management, nutritional guidance, and behavior modification techniques. Weekly session topics include how to:
Who is Eligible for the NEW Kids Program?Low-income residents with overweight children ages 6-12 living in the Monument Corridor of Concord, Bay Point, and Pittsburg areas of Contra Costa County How long is the program?Each family attends six weekly classes for 90 minutes. Bilingual classes are available in Spanish and English. How do I register?Pre-registration is required for all classes. At least one parent or guardian MUST attend with the child. To enroll your child in one of our local 6- week sessions please contact the coordinator in your area:
