Public Statement on Vaccination Access and Science-Based Guidance

Post Date:01/06/2026 2:51 PM

Contra Costa Health (CCH) reaffirms its continued support for routine vaccinations and its commitment to ensuring residents can access essential immunizations.

CCH aligns with the State of California and the coordinated guidance issued through the West Coast Health Alliance, which provides consistent, science-based vaccination recommendations.

“Vaccines save lives, especially for infants, children, older adults, and people with underlying health conditions,” said Dr. Ori Tzvieli, Contra Costa County Health Officer. “We will continue to follow evidence-based guidance informed by decades of medical research and public health experience. Our priority is protecting the health of our community and ensuring families can confidently access vaccines that prevent serious disease.”

Leading national medical and public health organizations, including the American Academy of Pediatrics continue to affirm that routine childhood immunizations are safe, effective, and critical to preventing disease outbreaks.

Vaccines recommended in California remain covered benefits under Medi-Cal, and Contra Costa Health Plan continues to cover essential immunizations for eligible members. Contra Costa’s public health clinics and community partners will continue providing vaccinations to residents across the county, regardless of insurance status.

CCH encourages residents to speak with their health care providers about recommended vaccinations and to stay up to date on immunizations that protect individual health and the well-being of the broader community.
