Hospital Security

Every person who comes to Contra Costa Regional Medical Center (CCRMC) deserves to feel safe. While no single measure can eliminate that risk, we have a responsibility to continually strengthen the protection we provide for our employees, patients and visitors. That is why CCRMC has started operating automated weapon-detection systems at three public entrances: 

• Main hospital lobby (first floor) 
• Emergency department entrance (third floor) 
• Psychiatric Emergency Services (PES) 

These systems have been installed to identify security risks and keep weapons out of our hospital. Their installation also brings CCRMC into compliance with California Assembly Bill 2975, which requires hospitals to implement automated weapons detection systems at public entrances by March 2027. 

The screening process is simple and efficient, allowing visitors and patients to walk through the touchless system without opening bags or displaying mobile devices.

Refusing screening will NOT result in the denial of emergency medical care.
