Plan Review

General Information

Contra Costa County Environmental Health is responsible for ensuring that all construction or remodeling of food and recreational health facilities conform to the requirements stated in the California Health and Safety Code.

• Check your plan review status online. (New plan submittal packets will be available as downloads from the website. Contact us for multiple packets)
• Retail food and public pool and spa plan review will only require 1 set of plans initially. 4 sets will be required for final approval.
• A Plan reviewer is available Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. No Appointment necessary, first come, first served.
• Additional consultation appointments may be made at the hourly rate.
• Only complete "Incidental" food facility plans may be approved over the counter by the desk duty plan reviewer.

The Division of Environmental Health is now providing electronic plan submittals for food and pool facilities projects. The electronic plan submittal is not mandatory and is offered as a convenience.  

 Submittal Process

1. Send email to the program email address that includes the name and address of your site/project. For the Consumer Protection Program (Food and Pool facilities) please email planreview@cchealth.org. 
2. You will receive an email with instructions to upload the documents and payment methods. 

Important Information

• The plan review process will not begin until the plan review fee is paid.
• We do NOT offer printing, flash drive transfer, electronic storage nor courier service for plans.
• It is the responsibility of the applicant (architect, engineer, contractor, etc.…) to ensure plans are submitted to all required agencies/parties.
